Lapis - Rough Sculpture

James Paige Spring 2003 Clay Sculpture - High-fire, Tuff-buff clay Lapis, stony-textured, as a gargoyle. I took special care to make this sculpture rough. I textured him with a wire-brush after I finished shaping him. The larger image shows the true color of this piece. The small image was discolored by the camera's desperate attempt to cope with the bad lighting.

and just for clarification, "Lapis" is his name, not the material. This is stoneware. My appologies to confused precious-stone-lovers who find this in google ;)
