How do I create an attack that allows the player to choose the first target but then it's chained to an attack that can randomly choose another target?

Sorry that might be a little unclear. Let's say the hero has a dog that he commands to attack the enemies. He first picks a target for the dog to attack but because the dog has a mind of its own it will then proceed to attack other enemies randomly. I've tried chaining a regular attack to an attack with the automatically choose target bitset but it just continues to choose the original target. Then I tried something more complicated... I tried to chain a regular attack to a second attack that does nothing but targets enemies on spread and then to a third attack that targets an enemy focused but that still didn't work. Any ideas?
